The world of braces has changed a lot over the years. In the past, traditional metal braces were one of the only options, but now, there are Invisalign, ceramic braces, and Damon braces as well as a handful of other options. Damon braces are a relatively new form of self-ligating braces, and many people are just now hearing about them. If you’re curious about this option, here’s what you need to know.
Damon Braces Versus Traditional Braces
Like traditional braces, Damon braces also feature brackets and wires. However, with traditional braces you go to your orthodontist every few weeks, and they tighten the wires to move the brackets closer together. In contrast, with Damon braces, the brackets move on the wires using a slide mechanism. You still have to see the orthodontist, but the braces essentially move themselves.
