When you need a new pediatric dentist, knowing that the practice you are considering has received a BestSelf Award should help you make your choice. Atlanta’s BestSelf Magazine provides resources for individuals and families to lead a happy and healthy life. It offers helpful tips in dozens of categories such as Food & Nutrition, Fitness & Weight Loss, Life Enrichment, Health & Wellness, and Beauty & Anti-Aging.
Recently, BestSelf Magazine held a Best of 2018 contest. The staff asked its readers to vote for the best local business in numerous categories. We are pleased to let you know that Nia Pediatric Dentistry was voted the best children’s dentist by parents in the Atlanta area. Our entire practice is humbled by this award and would like to thank those who voted for us and who entrust us with their children’s oral healthcare every day.
You and your child will notice how different our practice is from the moment you walk in the door. We understand that just coming to the dentist in the first place can make some children feel nervous. They are not sure what to expect and the environment in many dental offices is not very welcoming for kids. This is not the case at Nia Pediatric Dentistry. We have bright and colorful walls with pictures of zoo animals and other fun things that children enjoy.
While you wait with your child for his or her appointment, we encourage you to play a game of tic-tac-toe that is right on the wall or to have your child visit the Smile Booth. This is where he or she can have a picture taken wearing one of several props or even ask for a face painting. It makes the experience fun and memorable for your child. How many people can say that about visiting the dentist?
Our dentists and staff appreciate that pediatric patients are not the same as adult patients and we never push them to act in a manner that is beyond their age or ability. We speak to kids in terms they can understand while respecting their dignity at the same time. If your child has a question about a procedure, our staff uses models and appropriate fear-free language to explain what we are about to do.
It is very important to the staff at Nia Pediatric Dentistry that your child not develop a fear of the dentist early in life that can stay with him or her for years. We encourage you to bring your child to see us by the first birthday or shortly after his or her first tooth erupts. Although your baby will not remember this appointment, we will use the time to provide you with guidance as you help get his or her oral health off to a good start.
As your child moves into the preschool years, regular preventive care appointments along with a routine at home for brushing and flossing will help to keep oral health on track. Please contact us if you have additional questions about your child’s oral health or would like to schedule an appointment.
